In the run up to Scopitone Festival, Lauren, the current presenter of Euradio’s Morning Show, went to the Musée d’Arts de Nantes to interview Aki Inomata. A Japanese artist, Aki’s exhibition “Why Not Hand Over a “Shelter” to Hermit Crabs?”, where she built 3D constructed shells for hermit crabs, was featured as one of the exhibitions promoted within the festival. In the interview, Lauren started by speaking to Aki about her inspirations as an artist, including her history and current profession within education, and how that plays a role in her art. They went on to talk about the ideas behind the exhibition, and the process that Aki underwent to build the shells for her hermit crabs. Aki touched upon her desire to work in collaboration with living creatures in her artwork, and the harmony she sees between living creatures and the human space. She finished by describing her other exhibitions as well as future projects that she hopes to start in the near future.
