Album of the week ° Interview with Rozi Plain
Écrit par english sur 12 avril 2019
Four years after her last release, English singer/songwriter Rozi Plain is back with a fourth knock-out album: What a Boost (2019). While still gracing listeners with her distinctively dreamy and stylish sound, this new record sees Rozi putting her own spin on classic folk sounds (opening tracks “Inner Circle” and “Swing Shut”) and playing around with heavy bass and off-beats (e.g. “Trouble”). What a Boost (2019) was mixed by Ash Workman (Metronomy and Christine and the Queens), and co-produced by regular drummer Jamie Whitby Coles, and is easily some of the strongest work Rozi has produced in her career so far.
In light of being selected as Euradio’s current Album of the Week, Rozi spoke with Liv Cowle to tell us more. In the interview above she explains how her love for bass and beats crept into the record, much of which was edited while on tour with UK rock band This is the Kit, and why one track in particular makes her heart soar when they play the album live.
