Swedish artist, Erik Johansson, spoke to Bella Jewell ahead of his marvellous exhibition To the moon and back, which made up part of the Quinzaine Photographique Nantaise festival. The photographer, who is inspired by surrealists like Magritte, Dali, and Man Ray, discussed his desire to create surreal images that “look real.”

Johansson considers his work “a problem-solving process,” in which he seeks to create wonderful scenes using as much natural light as possible. The photographer succeeds in marrying science and art which spectacular results.

To find out more about his deeply meticulous creative process, listen to the podcast above.

‘To the moon and back’ is running from the 14th September to the 16th November at the Passage Sainte-Croix.
